Online NCSS Challenge Teacher Training
Available online, recorded July 12th - August 30th 2016

This series of videos will assist teachers in using and teaching the Beginners stream of the NCSS Challenge. We will introduce the foundations of algorithms and programming, using the Grok Learning platform which allows teachers to both teach and learn at the same time. The concepts covered are also transferable to the Beginners stream of other Python competitions, and the Introduction to Programming 1 course.

This workshop, to be held with the support of Liverpool Girls High School and Compass, will assist teachers in preparing for the new Digital Technologies curriculum, focussing on supporting the teaching of algorithms and coding. We will introduce the foundations of programming and web development, using the Grok Learning platform which allows teachers to both teach and learn at the same time. The workshop is primarily intended for high school teachers, but will also cover many relevant curriculum points for primary school teachers, especially in programming in Digital Technologies.

The panel will discuss how important coding and computational thinking skills are for students as they prepare for a workforce that's very different to today's.
